A long-living pine from Tver may be recognized as one of the oldest trees in Russia

Residents of the village Sudnikovo Tver region made a proposal to make the list of the oldest trees in Russia pine, whose age can be at least 800 years.

After learning about the existence of a centuries-old tree, the staff of the Ministry of Nature conducted a study, according to the results of which the “long-lived” tree took its place in the registry of old-growth trees of the country. An application to include the pine tree in the project “Trees – Monuments of Wildlife” is pending.

The final decision requires an opinion from dendrologists confirming the age of the plant. On average, pine trees live no more than 200 years.
