Gymnocalycium anisitsii

And I have another joy: I’m about to bloom Gymnocalycium. It was a birthday present from my brother a few years ago. The cactus is store-bought, and it’s amazing that it survived those conditions at all. It is blooming for the second year in a row – and again two buds.

Quite an important feature of this species – the flower lasts for several days, so you can see enough of it without complaining that it opened on a weekday and by the time you get home from work has wilted.

The photo shows signs of a flatworm mite infestation. Two years ago I exterminated with Fytoverm, and now everything is growing beautiful and healthy. It’s a shame that the old wounds are gone forever.
